"We’re about doing what we can to lift others—on the ground and in the air."

On a crisp, adrenaline-charged morning at Langar Airfield, a jump of a lifetime turned into a leap of hope. Katy Upton, CEO of FNG Skydiving, took to the skies and completed a 14,000ft tandem skydive, raising an impressive £4,125 in support of Rainbows Hospice for Children and Young People.

As the aircraft climbed above the clouds and the ground grew distant, the mission was clear—this wasn’t just about thrill-seeking; it was about making a meaningful difference. Rainbows Hospice, based in the East Midlands, is a lifeline for children with life-limiting conditions and their families. Their work is filled with compassion, providing care, comfort, and moments of joy during some of the most challenging times.

Katy’s jump marked not only a personal milestone but a broader commitment by FNG Skydiving to support local charities and give back to the community that has always lifted them up.

“It was one of the most exhilarating—and humbling—experiences of my life,” said Katy. “Jumping from 14,000ft certainly gets your heart racing, but knowing it was in support of Rainbows gave it all deeper meaning. At FNG, we’re not just about skydiving. We’re about doing what we can to lift others—on the ground and in the air.”

The fundraising campaign garnered widespread support from customers, local businesses, and community members, all inspired by the cause and Katy’s courage. Every donation, large or small, was a powerful reminder of the kindness and generosity that thrives within the community. The funds raised will directly benefit Rainbows’ vital services—from palliative care to family support and therapy.

FNG Skydiving has always had deep roots in the local area, and this event is part of a wider company initiative to work hand-in-hand with regional charities and nonprofits. The team at FNG understands the value of using their platform and visibility to support those in need—and they’re committed to continuing these efforts throughout the year.

“Community means everything to us,” Katy continued. “We’re so fortunate to be part of something bigger than skydiving alone. Supporting Rainbows is just one way we can show gratitude and help those who need it most. We’ve seen first hand how much of a difference collective action can make.”

Langar Airfield, the iconic site of the jump, provided the perfect backdrop for such a meaningful event. Known for its vibrant skydiving scene and breathtaking views, it offered a stunning stage for Katy’s flight—and for the outpouring of support that followed.

The success of the fundraiser has inspired plans for future collaborations with other local causes, with FNG Skydiving pledging to continue using their high-flying adventures as a force for good.

Whether you’re a first-time jumper, a long-time thrill-seeker, or simply someone who believes in the power of community, Katy’s skydive reminds us all that even the wildest leaps can land on a foundation of hope and generosity.

Thank you to everyone who supported this incredible cause. Together, we’re making a difference—one jump at a time.
