We are thrilled to announce that Debbie Harriott, our Corporate Quality and Compliance Manager, has once again been asked to be a part of the Inspiring The Future Organisation to celebrate Black History Month. Debbie brings a wealth of experience and a passion for promoting diversity and inclusion in the workplace.

Debbie, who is of Jamaican origins, has been actively involved with the Inspiring The Future Organisation for the past 3 years, attending numerous events at schools and universities to share her inspiring story and experiences. Debbie has also been working in management positions in the IT Sector for over 9 years. With the IT Sector still regarded as mainly male dominated, Debbie’s powerful leadership and commitment to fostering understanding and celebrating black contributions make her a valuable addition to the organisation and the sector as a whole.

Inspiring The Future is a free service developed in collaboration with teachers, offering support to state schools and colleges, with a particular focus on those in need. Through a range of activities, volunteers from diverse backgrounds, including apprentices, CEOs, barristers, and technicians, bring real-world experiences to the classroom, helping students gain insights into different careers and subjects.

Black History Month, which takes place in October, is a national celebration aiming to promote and celebrate the contributions of black individuals to British society and foster a greater understanding of black history. In the UK, the first Black History Month was held in 1987, coinciding with the 150th anniversary of the abolition of slavery in the Caribbean.

Since 2012, Inspiring The Future has facilitated over 2.5 million interactions between workplace volunteers and children and young people. This remarkable impact highlights the importance and effectiveness of the organisation’s initiatives in inspiring and empowering the next generation.

Debbie Harriott’s role as Corporate Quality and Compliance Manager at FNG involves ensuring that the business, its employees, and its projects comply with all relevant regulations and specifications. She oversees matters related to health and safety, environmental concerns, legal requirements, quality standards, and ethical policies. Her dedication to upholding these standards is instrumental in maintaining a responsible and inclusive work environment.
